"You should Patent and sell that thing..."

I love yachting and all the little joys that fall under the cruising lifestyle.   I include in those joys the time spent fixing, tweaking and improving the boat.

Our home cruising ground is Canada's Gulf Islands, which are full of great gunkholing areas and we like having a good sized dinghy with a sizeable motor.   It opens up lots of recreational options, and provides fallback for propulsion if needed.   This presents a challenge of how get a heavy motor on and off the dinghy easily and safely, especially since our boat is used by charter clients as well as our family.

There are a number of crane-like hoists on the market, but I knew I could lift the motor with my halyard, I just needed some help keeping it under control during the process.    So the Swing-Lift was born for the purpose of guiding the outboard smoothly from the dinghy to the rail while the halyard does the lifting.

The Swing-Lift worked well, and fellow sailors kept saying "you should patent and sell that thing".  So my choice was to patent and sell the thing, or to live out the rest of my life thinking "should've patented and sold that thing".

The company name is derived from my surname "Thistle" and the that joyful exclamation when you find a solution to a problem:  This'll work!

OUR MISSION is to provide simple, effective solutions that make cruising life better for sailors and their families.

OUR VALUES are innovative thinking, product quality and customer support.

OUR BEST COMPLIMENT is "why didn't I think of that!"
